Nadira is an Australian jazz vocalist (born in Indonesia from a family of Arabic background). She’s been leading her ensemble, Nadira and Friends, since 2014 in Hobart, a charming little town perched on the southern tip of Tasmania. Think of it as the last stop before you hit Antarctica! She swings in all sorts of setups, from an intimate duo to a full-blown 12-piece band. But don’t let her Hobart base fool you, she’s a globetrotter, hitting up stages across Australia, Indonesia, the US, and parts of Europe. Wherever she goes, she’s always got her network of top-tier jazz musicians, the “Friends” part of the band, ready to join her for swingin’ affairs.

Outside her jazz adventure, Nadira juggles a few "day jobs" as an emergency nurse, high school relief teacher, and also studying to become a psychologist (because why not?). In 2024, she launched a Pop-Up Jazz Lounge in Hobart called Now’s The Time, an ode to her love of spontaneous musical moments. Her ultimate dream? To spend months on end performing at jazz clubs and festivals worldwide, and one day, to own a a little jazz club of her own.

Nadira is this unstoppable person! Full of energy and enthusiasm. Nadira sings with the kind of pure joy that is totally contagious.

Anyone who has been to her shows knows that this petite, yet commanding, performer has a punk-ish attitude and on-stage banter that could be a comedy act on its own!

She's no Sarah Vaughan, or Carmen McRae… yet! But give her time!
